Keisha’s Story
Keisha grew up surrounded by community, culture and rhythm – the kind of environment where movement is part of daily life. By the time she was three, she was already taking dance classes; by eighteen, she was training at Laban and learning how the body expresses what words can’t say.
She toured internationally as a dance artist working with ACE Dance and Music, Tavaziva Dance, State Of Emergency, Movement Angol, Carl Campbell Dance Company 7 amongst others and worked in community care settings, later qualifying as a yoga instructor. Through all of this, Keisha discovered her true calling: creating experiences that feel honest, inclusive and culturally grounded.
Under her leadership, Keneish Dance won Best Contemporary Dance Company and the following year Most innovative Dance Company across all industry from SME Midlands Enterprise Awards.
She carries her Caribbean heritage with pride, but she doesn’t box herself into labels. Her life has been lived in blend – multicultural friendships, mixed environments, communities from every background. And that’s exactly what her work reflects.
